It almost reminded me of the Bund in Shanghai, where old colonial buildings contrast the Chinese architecture at the port. Standing on the jetty looking towards Trieste, I personally felt that these buildings gave the city its character. In the public squares, there are several old government buildings that face the Adriatic. Limited on time, here are my favourite highlights from my visit: My friends and I made haste to do some last-minute shopping and hopefully absorb some of the more notable sites. Much like many other towns I’ve explored in Italy, it was evident that I needed more time to immerse myself in the city’s vibe. I had the privilege of visiting Trieste recently after having spent the morning touring the Illycaffè factory (also located in Trieste).
